Let me take you on a personalized Table Mountain adventure. Choose from four distinct routes catering to your preference and fitness level, each with its own unique charm, differing distances and durations. Whether you're seeking a brisk workout or a leisurely stroll, I've got the perfect route for you. Marvel at the breathtaking views as we ascend this iconic peak, with options to walk down for the true hiking enthusiast or take the convenient cable car (funicular) descent for a more relaxed journey. Read below for more on each route...

Table Mountain via Platteklip Gorge

Embark on a thrilling adventure up Table Mountain through the Platteklip Gorge, a route that promises both challenge and awe-inspiring beauty. This moderately strenuous hike offers a direct ascent to the summit, typically taking about 1.5 - 2.5 hours to conquer. Perfect for those with a moderate fitness level, the trail weaves through a rugged gorge with striking rock formations and mesmerizing vistas of Cape Town below. As you ascend, the steep and well-maintained path presents an invigorating workout, rewarding your efforts with panoramic views of the city and the Atlantic Ocean behind you. Platteklip Gorge is the most popular and safest route up Table Mountain and is a fantastic choice for those seeking a memorable and relatively efficient trek to Table Mountain's iconic summit.

Table Mountain via India Venster

Not for the novice or fainthearted hiker, India Venster is arguably the most breathtaking route up Table Mountain. A trail that promises both challenge and reward, this exhilarating hike, takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours for the average hiker, offering a unique perspective by traversing three sides of the mountain. As you ascend directly under the cable car, the trail weaves through sheer sandstone boulders, leading to a hidden ledge with breathtaking views of Camps Bay on the backside of the mountain.

With an elevation of 700 meters over a distance of 3.5 kilometers (2.2 miles), the India Venster trail caters to moderate to fit hikers. For those less experienced or who just want to take in the mindblowing scenery, anticipate a slightly longer duration of 3.5 to 4 hours.

Brace yourself for an unforgettable exploration of Table Mountain's diverse scenery and topography, featuring famous viewpoints and challenging sections that make India Venster a must for the avid adventurer. And if you're really lucky, you might spot a shy Himalayan Tahr that frequent this route.

Table Mountain via Kasteelspoort

Summit Table Mountain via  Kasteelspoort, a spectacular route through the Twelve Apostles peaks. The hike takes you through lush fynbos vegetation,  with  serene views of the Atlantic Ocean and Camps Bay, away from the bustling crowds. Once atop, stop at the famous 'diving board' for an iconic photo opportunity. Indulge in a well-deserved picnic while taking in panoramic views, before making your way back down.

Or, if you haven't had enough, why not continue your journey onto the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway via the majestic Valley of the Red Gods and the enchanting Echo Valley, a trek of one and a half to three hours, depending on fitness levels. Marvel at the Hely Hutchinson and Woodhead Dams along the way, adding tranquility to your hike. This hike promises to be one of the most rewarding adventures in Cape Town, perfect for nature enthusiasts and adventurers alike.

Kasteelspoort-skeleton gorge

Start this 4-5 hour hike on the fynbos-covered Western slopes of the Twelve Apostles and descend the tropical Eastern slopes of Table Mountain with a captivating hike from Kasteelspoort over Table Mountain, past the serene Hely Hutchinson and Woodhead Dams, and down the picturesque Skeleton Gorge. Before descending Skeleton Gorge, revel in a most unusual site, a 'beach atop a mountain!'

Unlike other routes, Skeleton Gorge offers a unique descent, revealing the lush Eastern slopes of Table Mountain, enriched by abundant rainfall and diverse landscapes.

As you descend through Skeleton Gorge, encounter a mesmerizing blend of boulders, running streams, and shaded indigenous forests, creating a jungle-like atmosphere. Traverse rocky steps and wooden ladders, adding a sense of adventure to your descent, while minor scrambling over rocks adds to the thrill. Witness the vibrant flora and hear the gentle murmur of streamlets, immersing yourself in the natural splendor of this spectacular hiking environment.

End your  journey at the world famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and treat yourself to scones and cream! This hike promises an unforgettable experience for anyone, showcasing the diverse landscapes and rich biodiversity of Table Mountain. This is truly unforgettable!
